Today I have a guest post up at the blog of my friend and colleague Jon Gibbs, the author of the young adult book Fur-Face. The theme of my post is the illusion of control—and why that can be a juicy topic for writers. Please stop by:

I came here from the Blood Red Pencil and have spent two hours reading your back posts. Truly beautiful writing that has both immersed me and mesmerised me.
I suffered several deaths over a period of a month - two of them my parents and an uncle who hanged himself shortly after three other members of my family died. I was unable to articulate it for many years. The shock factor was disabling on all levels of my life. Glad you found a way forward and good luck with the memoir.
MOB (love your handle!):
Thanks so much for stopping by, and reading. Wow, what a story you have. I've heard stories of multiple tragedies from other readers since starting this blog--deaths and suicides piled on top of one another.
"The shock was disabling on all levels of my life"--beautifully put.
The only guarantee we get in life is that we will have a journey. I pray that you have found the way to make the best of yours. I clicked through to your blogger ID to read a bit about you--thought you might be interested to know my maiden name is Graham. I haven't yet been to Scotland, but it's ensconced on my Bucket List.
